About Me

I grew up in northern Minnesota with a pencil, diary, and deep imagination in hand. My passion for the arts, storytelling, and voice are the roots of my creative core of guiding others to their creative paths and cracking open the potential of ideas.

I have taught writing to business, academic, and literary audiences for almost two decades. In that time, I've grown to find my greatest strength is in supporting writers in their process by remembering the power of the basics, and the value of trusting in them for our own creative callings.

I hold an M.A. in English Literature, with a concentration on Holocaust memoirs, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing, and I am currently working through a PhD program with a focus on narrative ethics and consciousness in storytelling.

My published works include educational books for 2nd and 7th graders, academic articles centered around the Holocaust and its early influencers of myth, local journalism, and I'm just about done with a queryable draft of A Place Called Home, the first novel of a historical fiction series set during the Thirty Years War. The series changes the course of the traditional heroine's journey so she, and others like her, find their true calling in life. When love is all we have, what do we do with the rest?
